"On My Easel" Blog & Newsletter, Two upcoming Journals in Stampington's October Art Journal magazine, Attempt at an Art Journaling Class, Literary Ladies BookClub, and Beans and Corn and Tomatoes

The beans, corn, peaches and tomatoes make the pantry look beautiful. Glass jars of deliciousness seasoned with beauty and work. Thank you God for making the crops grow! I did another canner of tomatoes today before writing this blog post.
I didn't want to use a generic name or an AI inspired name for the blog and newsletter so I have heavily contemplating JujiLu. Then this week while at work at our furniture store, J.F. Lewis & Co. I had a few minutes to work on a piece of art that is "on my easel". That made for a better choice and I hope you like it.
Deciding on names is fun for every event and business. This past week we also decided on a name for our Book Club. We discuss a book, enjoy some food, and make a craft. We had some great name options!!! They were all so good we could not decide and had to write them on slips of paper and have an impromptu drawing. We are now the Literary Ladies. We will enjoy "Theo of Golden" for September. If you are interested in joining us or have questions please contact me at JulieRheaLewisArt@gmail.com.
I love to work in art journals. It is not as formal as fine art to put on the wall. Making art journals is a freeing way to express myself or to process emotions. I use it for Bible Study, reminiscing, future art projects, and as a general way to destress. I would love to have you join me in my studio to create a journal about your pet. I will provide the supplies and teach you a few techniques and you will go home with your own piece of art. I am attempting to have this class on Thursday, September 17 for 2 hours. Price is $30 Please contact me if you are interested. Seats are limited to 6. JulieRheaLewisArt@gmail.com.
Last, but definitely not least- this is really big news!!! I have 2 more journals being published by Stampington!!! These 2 will be in their Autumn issue that comes out on October 1, 2026. If you are local and would like to have a copy of this issue please contact me and I will order you one at a discounted price. If I am mailing it to you it would probably be cheaper and quicker to order direct from them at Stampington.com. They have a fabulous website, I definitely recommend perusing the site and seeing all of the gorgeous art!!! The two journals being published are complete opposites. One journal feature is about the 28 chairs that I painted earlier this year. They are showcased across 9 pages. They look soft and pretty and the story I wrote gives information about how the journal came to be. I did put some of the original paintings on my website shop along with the Scriptures & Chairs booklet. Let's go shopping!
The 2nd journal is pretty ugly. For real. It is very raw. There is quite a bit of ugly emotion going on when I was working on the pages. The art is snarky.
I will post with some pictures from the two features in October and will do a drawing for a chance to win a free Autumn Art Journaling bookazine!
There are some new cards in my online shop and hopefully will have some on Etsy this week at Julie Lewis Art Bits.
Thank you for taking time to read the blog and open the email!
This canvas painting of flowers is acrylics and oil pastels. The pastels just make every color pop and gives such a rich texture. I am working on this during free moments at the store. I think it needs some collage paper added to it. Maybe too many little red flowers. But at the same time I like all of the red flowers. I am calling it "Bustling".

See you on FB, Instagram, emailing, or leaving a blog post. Happy end of summer friends.
